ABOUT N.A.S.C. SPORTS
N.A.S.C. (Neighbourhood
Association Sports Committee) is a sub-committee of the O.C.C.N.A. (Oshawa
Central Council of Neighbourhood Associations).
N.A.S.C. Sports
over the years has been incredibly successful and has ran so efficiently, it has
often been mistaken for those programs offered by the City of Oshawa.
There is an N.A.S.C. sub-committee for each of the three recreational sports programs
offered.
N.A.S.C.
Softball, N.A.S.C. Soccer and
N.A.S.C. Hockey.
The
primary focus of our sports programs is to offer fun, recreational sports for
all residents of Oshawa,
regardless of ability from the ages of 5 years to 20 years of age.
All
Neighbourhood park associations have representation on each N.A.S.C. sports
committee by way of local park association elections. At the Neighbourhood
association level, a "SportsChair" is elected to oversee N.A.S.C.
sports at the local park level.
For each of the
sports programs, a subsequent chairperson is also elected. "Hockey
Chairperson", "Soccer Chairperson" and "Softball
Chairperson". The role of this individual is to ensure that lines of
communication is kept clear to each park executive and to co-ordinate and
organize their respective teams. By way of this representation, each
Neighbourhood park association has an equal voice and vote in how their N.A.S.C.
Sports program is run.
